However, you just have to deal with the showerhead or the shower faucet to stop the leakage without actual removing the tiles.
How to Repair Leaking Showerhead
Showerheads are easily available in the market. Here are some steps which you need to follow to replace the showerhead:
Step 01 Step 1:- Removing the Showerhead
You can remove the showerhead by unscrewing the screws with the help of a spanner or even your hands. You must take care that the water supply is off and all water is removed from the shower. You can also place a polythene bag or a cloth before detaching the showerhead.
Step 02 Step 2:- Cleaning the Showerhead
Many times leaking is due to the gap formed between O-ring and washer. So first check the O-ring and washer. Replace if they are not in good condition or else you can seal them with the tape. To clean the shower head you can use various liquids available in the market or just submerge it in water with lemon and salt in it. Some people also use vinegar to clean the shower. Now keep the showerhead in hot water for half an hour and with the help of brush clean it completely. Use a dry towel to wipe the showerhead.
Step 03 Step 3:- Rearrange the Shower
Place back the shower head as it was before. Make sure you do not let the screw loose or tighten it too much. Check the showerhead by turning on the water flow. Even after this if shower leaks then you have to repair the Faucet.
Steps to stop the Faucet Leaks
Faucets are generally repaired by replacing its cartridge. It is not a difficult task to replace the cartridge. You just need to follow some simple steps:
Step 01 Step 1:- Remove the Handle of the Shower Set
To remove the handle you have to remove all the water from the shower (as mentioned above). Now with the help of a spanner or a screwdriver try to remove all the screws. This will detach the handle from the shower. Some showers have a handle cap which can be easily removed with bare hands. Once you remove the handle cap you can see the handle screws.
Step 02 Step 2:- Replace the Cartridge
Buy the cartridge which exactly fits in your shower. To remove your old cartridge you have to use a screwdriver or a puller to remove the upper-clip. You can see the cartridge, it will be attached to the wall with a few screws. Unscrew it and you can easily remove the cartridge. Replace the old cartridge with the new one. Cartridge generally looks like a horseshoe step. Now fit the shower again by following the same steps.
